A man was killed when the car he was riding in was torn in half on the LBJ Freeway in northeast Dallas early Thursday morning.

The speeding car left the road around 2:30 a.m. and hit a light tower near Walnut Hill Lane. That cut the vehicle in half.

The 26-year-old female driver was critically injured. Her 27-year-old male passenger was ejected from the car and died at the scene.
