Man gets life in prison for murdering Dallas woman over phone
A man will spend the rest of life behind bars after he was convicted Monday for the murder of a woman selling an iPhone.
Lonzell Hunter, 24, got an automatic life sentence with no parole after a jury found him guilty on Monday for killing Martha Teran, 42 outside the Medieval Times in Dallas in Oct. 2016.
Teran found buyers for the iPhone on an app called Offer Up. Her family said the buyers wanted to meet at a different location but Teran refused. Instead, she agreed to make the sale outside Medieval Times. That’s when Hunter showed up to rob Teran and killed her in the process.
Teran’s adult children witnessed the shooting and testified during the trial. They were able to ID Hunter as the shooter.
The getaway driver in the murder, Javan Jamal Bush, 27, still awaits trial. He also faces a capital murder charge.
