Lightning sparks apartment fire in Irving

Lightning is being blamed for a fire that destroyed several apartments in Irving.

The fire started around 4 a.m. Wednesday at the complex on Estrada Parkway, near Highway 183 and Esters Road.

It quickly escalated to three alarms, but no one was hurt.

A total of 16 units were damaged and the Red Cross is helping those families who were displaced.
