Jordin Sparks has subtle message during national anthem rendition
Without having to take a knee, Jordin Sparks still managed to protest during her rendition of the national anthem at the Dallas Cowboys vs Arizona Cardinals game Monday night.
Players on both sides stood arm-in-arm during Sparks’ rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” But it’s what was written on her arm during the anthem that hinted at something more.
On the hand that she held the microphone with, Sparks had written “PROV. 31: 8-9.”
The Proverbs Bible verse says “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
Sparks joined other singers and NFL players responding to President Donald Trump’s comments last week suggesting that NFL players who take a knee during the anthem should be fired.
