Irving apartment fire leaves dozens homeless

Firefighters battled a large fire at an apartment complex in Irving Friday morning.

The fire at the WaterRidge Apartments in the 4500 block of Pioneer Drive started around 9:30 a.m. and quickly grew to three alarms. 

Everyone made it out safely and no one was hurt, officials said.

Video from SKY 4 showed more than a dozen burned units. Officials said an estimated 35-40 people were displaced and the American Red Cross is helping them.

There’s no word yet on the cause of the fire.
