Suspect fatally struck by vehicle after running onto I-30 in Fort Worth

Fort Worth police said an attempted burglary suspect was fatally struck Friday morning after going onto I-30.

This started just after 6 a.m., when officers were called about a burglary in the 1200 block of Oakland Boulevard.

Police were told someone was trying to get into a closed medical facility before he tried to get into other nearby businesses.

Responding officers found the man, whose name has not yet been released, and tried to speak with him, but police said he ran toward I-30.

Other officers drove up and tried to stop him from running into oncoming traffic, but police said he crossed the Bridge Street service road, jumped the guard rail, and ran into oncoming traffic on westbound I-30.

He was then struck by a pickup truck. The driver of that truck did stop.
