Hometown Heroes: Teen Library Volunteers

This summer, 130 teenagers are volunteering at the 29 libraries in the Dallas Public Library System.

They sort hundreds of books, DVDs and magazines and return them to library shelves.

They also answer dozens of questions daily from library guests, and at certain branch libraries, they help with summertime lunch.

The non-profit Equal Heart partners with the Texas Department of Agriculture to serve lunch to kids under 18 at 11 Dallas Branch Public Libraries.

Teen volunteers at the Polk-Wisdom Branch in Oak Cliff say they enjoy volunteering because they like to help people and the library feels like a second home.
