Garland apartment shooting leaves one woman dead, police searching for suspect

GARLAND, Texas - Garland detectives are investigating the tragic shooting death of a woman early this morning. On January 21, 2025, just before 2 a.m., Garland Police responded to reports of a gunshot wound at an apartment complex in the 4500 block of Chaha Road.
What we know:
When officers arrived, they found a woman in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. She was taken to the hospital where she later died.
The investigation shows there was a disturbance involving a man and two females, according to police.
During the altercation, 39-year-old Robert Ray Kelly of Dallas, shot one of the females and left the scene before officers arrived, police say.
What we don't know:
Detectives are working to determine the circumstances that led to this incident and believe this to be an isolated event.
The identity of the victim is not being released at this time.
