Frisco teacher arrested for relationship with 14-year-old student
Police arrested a Frisco ISD teacher Wednesday for allegedly having a relationship with a 14-year-old female student.
Travis Chupe, 35, was charged with having an improper relationship with a student and indecency with a child, both of which are second-degree felonies.
Chupe worked at Staley Middle School. The girl was one of his eighth-grade students.
The parents of the victim went to Frisco Police on Sunday after discovering numerous text conversations between her and Chupe, some of which were sexual in nature.
The victim also told police that she met Chupe at Frisco Commons Park sometime in June. While there, Chupe had an "intense makeout session" with the victim and touched her breasts while doing so, court documents say.
A forensic examination of the victim's cell phone revealed that the victim and Chupe had done sexual things together, but did not discuss any actions specifically.
Chupe answered the door of his Frisco home but declined to comment, only saying he had an attorney.
Frisco ISD says Chupe has worked with the district since 2007 and spent most of his time in technology support before becoming a math teacher in 2015.
