A cadet with the Frisco Police Department died after suffering a medical emergency during his last physical exam at the police academy.

Police say Cadet Christopher David Murray died on Thursday after being hospitalized on November 16. He suffered a medical emergency during the final physical training to complete the police academy course.

Murray was being treated for rhabdomyolysis according to a YouCaring fundraiser. By the time he got to the hospital, he was in acute kidney failure.

During his time in the hospital, the police academy still awarded him with a graduation certificate in absentia.

Murray began his career with the Frisco Police Department as a police and fire dispatcher in 2013 and started the police academy in July.  He leaves behind a 2-year-old daughter and a wife that is expecting a little boy.

A donation fund has been set up for the Murray family.
