Flash flood warning for Dallas and Tarrant Counties
Flooding is a major issue in parts of North Texas after several inches of rain fell in a short period of time.
Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, Wise and Grayson counties were all under flash flood warnings issued by the National Weather Service.
In Arlington, police said a 23-year-old man's body was recovered near the University of Texas at Arlington overnight.Around 11:15 p.m., police were notified of a possible drowning in a creek on the west side of the UTA campus. The victim’s body was recovered shortly before 2 a.m.
In Everman, police said about 45 homes have been damaged by floodwaters. This affected homes along Christie Avenue and Southway Drive. Everman police said people were on their roofs waiting to be rescued.
On Friday night, one of the big trouble spots was for drivers was in Plano, where northbound Central Expressway was closed at Plano Parkway due to high water. The highway re-opened early Saturday morning.
Officials on scene believed there was up to two feet of water on the road. There were reports of several cars driving into the water and stalling out. First responders were on the scene to help rescue people.
