Driver killed, two paramedics hurt in crash involving ambulance

One man is dead and two paramedics were hurt following a crash involving a pickup truck and ambulance early Sunday morning.

According to police, the ambulance was headed to a medical emergency call on westbound West Davis St., just after 3 a.m., when a pickup truck ran a red light and crashed into the ambulance at the Westmoreland Rd. intersection. 

Dallas Fire-Rescue said two paramedics were transported to the hospital.

One is expected to be discharged from the hospital later on Sunday. The second medic was admitted for ongoing treatment and observation.

The driver of the pickup truck, 28-year-old Luis Cabrera, was also transported to the hospital, where he were pronounced dead.

The crash is still under investigation.
