Don't forget: Liquor stores in Texas are closed Christmas Day, New Year's Day

Need to have some liquor to get through the holidays? Better make your purchases before Christmas Day in Texas.

State law bans the sale of liquor on Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. That means Dec. 21, 22 and 24 are the final opportunities this year to stock up before you head over to your family’s house for Christmas.

Texas is one of 25 other states that do not sell liquor in stores on Christmas Day.

The holiday bans are supplements to the original Texas Liquor Control Act of 1935. The Christmas Day ban was added in 1967 and New Year’s Day was added in 1979.
