Disturbance in Terrell ends with deadly shooting

TERRELL, Texas - An 87-year-old man was not arrested after he shot and killed an attacker in his Terrell home Thursday morning.

The shooting happened around 5 a.m. Thursday in the 200 block of S. Hattie Street.

Police say 52-year-old Cameron Villa used to be married to the live-in niece of homeowner Robert Hartfield.

Villa showed up at Hartfield's home and allegedly began beating him and his niece.

Hartfield told police that he shot Villa once with a pistol. Villa died at the hospital.

Friends and family say Hartfield is well-respected in the community.

Police say Hartfield has been cooperative.
