Dallas police seek driver suspect in Uptown rape case
Dallas police are searching for a sex assault suspect who picked up a woman along a busy Uptown street last weekend.
Police said the victim got inside a Black Chevy Tahoe in the 2900 block of McKinney Avenue about 3 a.m. Saturday and believed she was going to get a ride home. When she realized she wasn’t being taken home she asked to be let out of the vehicle, but the driver instead drove to an undisclosed location and sexually assaulted her.
A Dallas police spokesman wouldn’t say if the driver worked for Uber or Lyft or was posing as a driver. Police said the woman did order a ride home, but then she thought she canceled it.
The driver dropped the victim off at a gas station at the intersection of Fitzhugh Avenue and N. Central Expressway between 3:30 and 4 a.m.
Surveillance images from the gas station show the man in the vehicle. He’s described as average height and weight, mid-30s, light skinned.
Anyone who may recognize the driver or has information about the case should call Dallas police at 214-671-3584.
