Dallas PD: Attempted robber shot by store manager

An attempted robber is in critical condition after police say a Dallas store employee shot him when he tried to rob the store.

The shooting happened Thursday at a Metro PCS store in the 2600 block of MLK Jr. Boulevard around 6:38 p.m.

One witness says he and his son were the only customers in the store when the robber came in with a hand gun and told everyone to get on the ground. He says that's when he heard shots.

A family member of the store’s manager said she immediately rushed over when she heard women had been shot.

“I thought it was my nephew or my niece. Lord have mercy,” Queen Williams said. “I thought it was one of them that got hurt.”

Dallas police are investigating the incident as an attempted robbery.

Police did not confirm if the store manager had a license to carry. A lieutenant said the case may be referred to a grand jury.

No other injuries were reported.
