Dallas Museum of Art reduces hours, lays off 8% of staff

The Dallas Museum of Art is laying off staff members and reducing hours to cut costs.

Starting December 1, the museum will only be open Wednesday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The layoffs include 20 full-time positions and making two full-time positions into part-time positions. The positions account for 8 percent of the museum's staff.

A statement from the DMA calls the changes "difficult, but necessary steps" in order to "move towards a sustainable future."

The museum noted economic challenges since the start of the COVID pandemic.

"We are confident that our operations are now in alignment with achievable revenue goals," the DMA said in a statement.
