Dallas man gets life sentence for murdering girlfriend over abortion

The Dallas man who killed his girlfriend because she had an abortion has been sentenced to life in prison.

Earlier this week, Dallas County jurors found 23-year-old Harold Thompson guilty of murder.

He was then sentenced to life in prison for the death of 26-year-old Gabriella Gonzalez.

Gabriella Gonzalez Shot and Killed

The backstory:

Gonzalez was shot and killed in May of 2023 in a West Oak Cliff parking lot.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, cameras captured video of Thompson trying to put Gonzalez in a choke hold, but she was able to get away. 

He then pulled out a gun and shot her once in the head. He fired several more shots into her before running away, according to the affidavit.

26-year-old Gabriella Gonzalez was at the Shell Station on S. Walton Walker Boulevard in West Oak Cliff when she was shot and killed on Wednesday morning.

Investigators later determined that Thompson and Gonzalez were in a relationship.

They also learned he had an active family violence strangulation warrant, and she had just returned from Colorado, where she had terminated her pregnancy.

Thompson was believed to be the father, and he did not want her to get an abortion, the affidavit said.
