Dallas Jesuit rowing team competing in Henley London

The Dallas Jesuit College Prep rowing team is in London participating in one of the biggest rowing competitions in the world.

The team is one of seven teams from the U.S. competing in the Henley Royal Regatta. They are in the high school division for the Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup.

Head Coach John Fife says this is the first team from Jesuit to compete in London.

“I think they are all really excited and nervous. Obviously none of them have raced here before so I think they are just keeping their focus on the race tomorrow night,” the head coach said. “It’s been a goal for every rower in Jesuit since we started.”

The team will compete in a qualifying race on Friday. It will determine if they will compete in the main race against 31other teams next Wednesday.

Fife says he hopes their time in London will give greater exposure to rowing in Dallas.
