Custodian, 70, accused of inappropriately touching Kennedale elementary student

A school custodian in Kennedale is charged with indecency with a child.

Police said a teacher at Delaney Elementary School witnessed 70-year old Lewis Rawlings inappropriately touching a student in December.  The teacher moved the student to safety and reported the incident to police.

Rawlings was escorted from the school grounds. He was arrested Tuesday and is now facing charges for indecency with a child.

The Kennedale Independent School District sent a letter home to parents and said it is cooperating with police. Rawlings is no longer employed by the district.

The case is still under investigation.
