County health officials confirm Dallas VA patient does not have Ebola

Dallas County health officials want to be clear: there is almost no chance that a patient who was treated at the Dallas VA Medical Clinic has Ebola. The facility activated an emergency protocol this morning after a veteran came in with Ebola-like symptoms.

Dallas County Health and Human Services Director Zach Thompson has confirmed the patient does not have Ebola. He is being treated for something else.

The news comes as a comfort to a city already Ebola weary. It has been more than a year since the death of Thomas Eric Duncan and the subsequent diagnosis of two nurses.

The veteran will be transferred to a designated regional assessment facility as a precaution. The closest one in Texas is at the University of Texas medical branch in Galveston.
