Corner Bakery catches fire in Plano
PLANO, Texas - Firefighters spent hours Wednesday morning trying to knock down the flames at a restaurant off the Central Expressway in Plano
The fire at the Corner Bakery near the Collin Creek Mall started around 4 a.m. Someone at the IHOP next door spotted the smoke and called 911.
Fire officials said the fire appears to have started in the back of the building, but the exact cause is still unknown. Firefighters had to vent the building and use a ladder truck to get at the flames since they could not safely go inside.
It’s not yet clear how extensive the damage is. In addition to Corner Bakery being closed for now, IHOP posted a sign on its door letting customers know it is temporarily closed because of the cleanup.
No employees were in the building at the time and no one was hurt in the fire.
