Community shows support for coach following DWI arrest
DENTON, Texas - Students and parents at Denton Guyer High School are supporting their football coach even after his arrest for driving while intoxicated.
Coach John Walsh was arrested two months ago. His status with the school district remains unclear.
The football team and parents met at the school asking he get a second chance.
“Coach Walsh was very adamant that he messed up. He made a mistake. We have all sort of acknowledged that and none of us support drinking and driving my any means, but we’ve known this guy for a long time. I know his family. He lives in our neighborhood. This is a good guy that made a mistake,” said John Bock, president of the Guyer High School booster club.
Bock said Walsh has been under pressure to resign.
