Trackdown: Help find Lewisville man accused of killing tenant over late rent
LEWISVILLE, Texas - Lewisville police say an argument over rent not being paid on time led to a man murdering one of his tenants.
FOX 4’s Shaun Rabb weaves the facts together in perhaps one of the most senseless killings.

Carlos Humberto Galindo Posantes
What we know:
The shooting happened back in November 2023 at a home in the 800 block of Harbor Drive.
"Our suspect is Carlos Humberto Galindo Posantes," explained Lewisville Police Det. Scott Kelly. "Mr. Posantes resided at this house with his wife for several years. They subletted a bedroom to the victim. His name is Marco Polo Hernandez Mejia."
Posantes rented the home with his wife. They would sublet spare rooms in the home to others.

The detective says an argument started between the two when Mejia was three days late on rent. It ended with Posantes fatally shooting Mejia. However, the shooting wasn’t immediately reported.
"The Lewisville Police Department was contacted by another agency because of a vehicle that was abandoned in their roadway," explained Kelly. "They towed that vehicle. And in the process of doing so, they noticed a handgun on the front passenger seat. The registered owner came back to here."
Police officers went to the address where Posantes’ truck was registered and spoke to his wife.
"He wasn't home. She wasn't worried," said Kelly. "They came back the next day. Now, she was worried and wanted to file a missing person's report."

Marco Polo Hernandez Mejia
To file a missing person’s report, the detective says they have to check the home to make sure they’re not hiding out there.
"So the patrol officer checked the residence, and that's when he discovered Mr. Mejia's body in the backyard."
Investigators believe Posantes tried to hide Mejia’s body after killing him.
"The shooting definitely happened at the threshold of the back door into the kitchen. Cartridge casings were left there," said Kelly. "Then there's some blood that follows around the patio, leads into the grassy area in the backyard and then around the side of the house."
