Buried bones prompt search for former Dallas resident
DALLAS - Dallas police confirmed Thursday that human remains found at a north Oak Cliff home show evidence of a homicide and the former homeowner is missing.
The Dallas County Appraisal District said Ronald Shumway, 57, bought the Winnetka Avenue home in 1984 and sold it in June -- but he'd already gone missing 2 months before that.
The house then sold again in August and it's the new owner who was renovating when human remains were found under a cement block in late September.
Dallas police said Shumway hasn't been seen or heard from since April 23, the day after his birthday.
DART officials said Shumway was a bus driver from 2010 until he resigned in April, right before his disappearance, without explanation.
Police said they are anxious to get in touch with anyone who lived at the home or knows Shumway, especially any relatives.
Neighbors said it's been several months since they've seen Shumway.
“A lot of things just kind of go through your mind,” said neighbor Robert Ybarra.
The medical examiner has not yet identified the remains.
