British sailors not indicted for Dallas officer assault
Three British Royal Navy sailors will not be indicted for beating an off-duty Dallas police officer outside of an Uptown Dallas nightclub.
Christopher Casey, 28, Christopher Hickman, 30, and Callum Duncan, 26, weren’t indicted by a Dallas County Grand Jury last Thursday and returned to England.
“They were extremely pleased to be able to go back to their service and they were very humble in the result,” said attorney Vickers Cunningham, Sr.
The three faced charges for assaulting veteran officer Sr. Cpl. Gerardo Huante on Feb. 13 while he was in full uniform providing security at the Concrete Cowboy on Cedar Springs Road.
The men were on a 24-hour layover heading back to the U.K. after a training exercise in New Mexico.
In court documents, witnesses told police the men were fighting someone else outside the club when the officer tried to break it up. But the sailors turned on the policeman and attacked.
These cases normally take 2 to 3 months to go before a grand jury, but this one took 26 days.
