Beloved Plano educator Jim Dunlap dies

A teacher who shared his love for animals with children in Plano schools for more than 30 years has died.

Jim Dunlap retired five years ago.

Generations of students remember him as the man who would bring his 23-foot python named Katy to school.

The school district built the Holifield Science Learning Center where he and Katy and a menagerie of other animals were the stars.

Dunlap's cause of death has not yet been released, but he battled heart disease for years.
