Baby items stolen from Mesquite family's car
A Mesquite family said a thief stole the baby items from their car parked in the driveway of their home.
Grainy surveillance video shows a woman rummaging through their car for several minutes. The family says the woman stole baby clothes, diapers and even old sonogram photos.
“She pulled in catty-corner like she owned the place,” Makayla Little said. “She took like three sonogram pictures and mine and my husband's wedding picture.”
Video shows the woman trying to get into other cars in the driveway, but they're locked. Little's car was not locked.
“We were in a rush to get everything from the grocery store inside and we just wanted to rush him in get [our son] in bed because he was asleep and just forgot the diaper bag that time forgot to lock the door back,” Little said.
Down the street, Kasey Staton said her car was ransacked the same morning.
“I came out and my car doors were open and my truck was open,” Staton said. “All of my stuff was taken from both gloves boxes.”
She doesn't have surveillance cameras and can't be sure the same person is responsible.
Mesquite police said they're not seeing an uptick in burglaries from cars, but do warn criminals sometimes target diapers bags because many mothers use them as a purse.
