Assistant Dallas County DA Justin Moore arrested for DWI
An assistant Dallas County district attorney is on unpaid leave after he was arrested for drunken driving.
Dallas police said Justin Moore was uncooperative and verbally abusive when he was pulled over by officers early Sunday.
Those officers said he was speeding, weaving and tailgating another car on Highway 67 in southern Dallas.
A sworn statement by officers states the prosecutor called them racist and members of the Ku Klux Klan.
The arrest affidavit says Moore called officers idiots and called a black officer at the scene an Uncle Tom.
Lawyer Pete Schulte is not involved with the case but is a former prosecutor.
"The problem with this particular case is he's either going to have to admit that he was intoxicated which caused him to say the things that he said or he's going to try and say that he wasn't and then the question is going to be is this how he thinks on a regular basis. So, he's stuck between a rock and a hard spot," Schulte said.
Dallas police said they have squad car video of the arrest and the entire incident.
Moore worked for former District Attorney Craig Watkins and remained on staff after new Dallas County DA Susan Hawk took office last week.
