Armed man busted at Trump Tower

NEW YORK (FOX5NY) - The NYPD says a Bronx man was busted trying to get into Trump Tower wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying two knives.

It happened Thursday afternoon at about 4 p.m.

Adames Benitez, 52, went to the building and claimed to be a U.S. senator who wanted to see President Trump's daughter Ivanka.

Police say he had a fake ID on him and was taken into custody. He faces several charges and was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric examination.

No members of the Trump family were in the building. The president and his daughter are in Germany for the G-20 summit.
