Apartment building near Love Field demolished after fire
DALLAS - An apartment building near Dallas Love Field was demolished on Monday after a destructive fire.
Thick smoke poured out of the complex on Brockbank Drive, a few blocks north of Dallas Love Field, for three hours midday Monday.
After firefighters were able to put out the flames, it was determined that the six unit building should be demolished. Officials said the design of the apartments made it easy for a fire to flare up again even if repairs were made.
One person was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The American Red Cross will help those displaced by the fire.
Dallas Fire officials said the cause of the fire was accidental and began due to someone welding pipes.
