A highway that runs past Downtown Dallas is closed because of a nasty spill and accident.

The crash happened around 2:15 a.m. on northbound Stemmons Freeway near Reunion Boulevard, which is the Dallas Horseshoe.

The Dallas Sheriff’s Office said animal parts including guts and grease spilled onto the roadway from an unknown vehicle that didn’t stop. It made the road very slick.

Two cars lost control, both striking the wall. An 18-wheeler then jackknifed and hit the wall, knocking out a large piece. Finally a second 18-wheeler came around the corner, was unable to stop and slammed into them.

Fortunately only one person suffered minor injuries. But the roadway is still literally a mess.

All northbound lanes of Stemmons Freeway are closed and traffic is being forced off at the Reunion exit as hazmat crews work to clean up the biological waste.

The cleanup is expected to take several hours.
