Abbott calls Paris attacks 'an assault to all of humanity'

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is calling the attacks in France "an assault to all of humanity."

A series of attacks targeting concert-goers, soccer fans and people enjoying a Friday night out at popular nightspots killed as many as 120 people in Paris. French President Francois Hollande pledged that France would stand firm against what he called terrorism.

Abbott said on Friday night that the "despicable attacks in France are an assault to all of humanity, and the world must unite to condemn acts of terrorism on every front."

He says he's spoken with the Consulate General of France in Houston "to offer any and all assistance on behalf of the State of Texas."

He added, "Our thoughts and prayers remain with the victims and all those affected in France."
