79 homes evacuated after Plano gas leak
PLANO, Texas - A gas leak early Thanksgiving morning forced dozens of homes and businesses to evacuate in a Plano neighborhood.
Plano Fire-Rescue says the initial call came in around 7 a.m. from a resident about a strong odor in the area of Spring Creek Parkway and Alma Drive. The resident said she went outside her house and noticed the odor was even stronger.
More than 79 homes were evacuated as well as several nearby businesses for more than 7 hours.
Atmos crews contained the gas leak shortly after 1 p.m. Residents were allowed to return to their homes around 2:45 p.m.
Several streets were shut down in the area while crews worked to contain the leak.

Crews set up emergency tents to provide temporary shelter for the people evacuated. Red Cross was also on scene.
