7-Eleven launching Scan & Pay service in Dallas

Shopping at one convenience store chain is getting even more convenient.

7-Eleven will launch Scan & Pay at 14 stores in Dallas on Wednesday. It’s a new mobile checkout process.

The service lets customers pick up an item and scan it with the 7-Eleven mobile app.  Customers can then skip the checkout linen and pay for the item through the app with any credit or debit card, or Apple or Google Pay.

The app also connects to customers’ 7Rewards loyalty accounts for points, deals and promotions.

"Our customers are on the go, looking for faster, more convenient ways to shop more than ever before. 7-Eleven continues to redefine convenience by providing frictionless experiences for our customers with Scan & Pay. Our customers can now use their smartphone to skip the line, every time," said 7-Eleven’s Gurmeet Singh.

However, a few items will still require cashier assistance such as hot foods, alcohol, tobacco and lottery tickets.

Next year, the Irving-based company plans to expand Scan & Pay to other cities.
