A 2-year-old boy is still in the hospital after nearly drowning at a Fort Worth apartment complex.

Police said the toddler wandered out of his grandmother's apartment at the Wedgewood Apartments on Walton Avenue Saturday.

A neighbor told FOX 4 he saw the boy at the pool surrounded by a group of young people. A few minutes later he was along in the water, the neighbor said.

Family members and witnesses pulled the unconscious boy out of the water and began pumping his chest until paramedics arrived.

At last check he was still in critical condition at Cooks Children's Hospital.

Family members said the boy's grandmother babysits him often, and he was in her care when he wandered away.
