A SWAT standoff at a home in Wylie is forcing at least one nearby school to take extra security measures.

Police said they got a call about a suicidal man with a gun at a home in the 3400 block of Catalpa Drive, which is in the McCreary Estates neighborhood.

One adult male relative was able to get out of the home, but police said the suspect’s wife was unaccounted for.

Some neighbors were asked to leave or stay indoors while SWAT negotiators worked to get the man to surrender.

Video from FOX 4’s photographers showed officers packing away a robot and standing down around 11 a.m.

Wylie ISD said nearby Groves Elementary School was placed on perimeter lockdown because of the police activity. Parents and students were allowed to come and go, but classes in portable buildings were moved into the school.

The lockdown has since been lifted.
