A 17-year-old drowned in Grapevine Lake Thursday afternoon.

Grapevine Fire Chief Darrell Brown said authorities got the possible drowning call at 3:15 p.m. at Rockledge Park.

Brown said the boy's father was able to give first responders a location of where the boy went underwater.

The dive team went in, and they were able to find Alberto Santos a short time after arriving.

Authorities said he was pulled out of the water just after 4 p.m.

After being pulled from the water, Santos was immediately rushed to the hospital, but later passed away.

The city of Grapevine announced that Rockledge Park was closed Thursday following the drowning.
