14-year-old sells prize-winning steer for $131K at State Fair

An up-and-coming cattle raiser broke records at the State Fair's youth livestock auction.

This is the fourth year in a row III Forks Steakhouse bought the State Fair's grand champion steer.

14-year-old Jagger Horn raised ‘Clifford’ and sold him for $131,000. Jagger also won the Fort Worth livestock show last February.

"To win the State Fair is a huge honor,” the 14-year-old said. And winning the Texas State Fair is an even bigger honor because I think Texas is one of the best states in the United States."

"We decided to help and assist Texas agriculture, not just trying to get Texas ingredients into the restaurant, but also to give back and help to the kids,” said Chef Chris Vogeli.

Horn will receive a portion of the auction money. The rest will be put into his scholarship fund.

Horn hopes to attend Texas A&M University and then start his own business raising and selling show cattle.
