Mike Doocy helps spend $80,000 for Toys for Tots

FOX 4's Mike Doocy and Apartment Associations of Greater Dallas and Tarrant County were out at a Walmart in Lewisville Monday morning to spend $80,000.

The organizations donated the money for the annual Marine Toys for Tots campaign. The toys will be delivered to underprivileged children in North Texas.

Doocy was there to help as volunteers filled shopping carts, checked out and then loaded all of the toys into the back of a truck.

"What do you think of what you've seen here this morning? $80,000 toy buy?" he asked.

"I love it. It's great to know that the kids will have a good Christmas this year," said Lance Cpl. Brown with the United States Marines.

The toys will be dropped off at the Southlake Town Square Monday night. FOX 4 will also be out there collected new and unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots. It's the first of many stops this week.

You can help make Christmas special for a North Texas child by donating. The boxes are out across the DFW area or you can stop by during one of the FOX 4 events to meet our staff.

Toys for Tots also accepts donations of money to help buy toys.
