Yu Darvish throws another BP session for Rangers
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Texas Rangers ace Yu Darvish has finished throwing another live batting practice session.
Darvish threw 45 pitches during a session Tuesday afternoon that was broken up to simulate three innings. He threw 14 pitches in the first set, 17 in the second and 14 in the last.
After throwing a similar BP session last Thursday, Darvish decided he wanted to do that again before his first minor league rehab start.
So instead of pitching for Double-A Frisco on Tuesday, he was at the Rangers ballpark five hours before their game against the New York Yankees throwing against teammates Ryan Rua, Hanser Alberto and Brett Nicholas.
Neither Darvish or the Rangers said what is next for the right-hander who had Tommy John surgery on his elbow 13 months ago.
