Winnie East Chambers beats Van Alstyne 66-61 in 3A
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Dylan Silcox scored 22 points and Winnie East Chambers defeated Van Alstyne 66-61 in a Class 3A semifinal Thursday.
Darius Guillory added 15 points, including a deep 3-pointer as the first half ended, as Winnie East Chambers (34-6) advanced to the title game for the first time since 1996. Guillory's 3-pointer capped a 12-6 second quarter run by Winnie East Chambers and Van Alstyne (29-8) never recovered in the second half.
Winnie East Chambers dominated the rebounding battle 42-25 and scored 21 second-chance points. Ethan Kahla had a game-high 10 rebounds before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
Van Alstyne (29-8) attempted 28 3-pointers but made just seven.
Isaiah Boling scored 20 points and Michael Hensley scored 16 for Van Alstyne.
