Fort Bend Elkins beats Fort Worth Dunbar 101-73 in semifinal
SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Kenneth Busby scored 21 points as Fort Bend Elkins defeated Fort Worth Dunbar 101-73 in a Class 5A semifinal Thursday in San Antonio.
Eddie Everline scored 18 points while Ansu Sesay and Chad Bowie each added 13 as Fort Bend Elkins (36-2) advanced to its first title game Saturday.
Fort Worth Dunbar led 38-37 with 6:44 remaining in the third quarter before Fort Bend Elkins took control with a 7-0 run over the next minute, capped by back-to-back baskets from Busby.
Fort Bend Elkins' lead then ballooned in the fourth quarter reaching as high as 28 points.
Quinton Brigham had 27 points and 12 rebounds for Fort Worth Dunbar (23-12), while Logan Ray scored 17. Fort Worth Dunbar won the rebounding battle 49-35.
