Woman lifted through roof of malfunctioning 25th-floor elevator in Uptown Dallas

A woman trapped inside an elevator in Uptown Dallas was rescued Wednesday morning after being extracted through the roof of the elevator and placed in a working one nearby.

What we know:

Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) teams were called to St. Ann Court, located at 2501 N. Harwood St., shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The woman was stuck in an elevator on the 25th floor of the building. Dallas Fire-Rescue was unable to free her and requested assistance from USAR.

USAR crews accessed the elevator through the top, rescued the woman, and placed her into a working elevator next to the one she was stuck in. From there, she was brought to the top floor, where she could safely exit onto solid ground.

The entire rescue operation took approximately 30 to 45 minutes. No injuries were reported.

What we don't know:

It’s unclear how long the woman was stuck in the elevator before help arrived.
