Suspect in Garland police chase dies in crash
GARLAND, Texas - A man who was killed while running from Garland police had a stolen gun in his car.
Police tried to pull the man over on Shiloh Road in Garland around 3 a.m. Tuesday morning because he didn’t have a rear license plate.
He stopped briefly but then took off going about 100 miles an hour. That’s when officers chased him.
The suspect reportedly lost control of the car near Shiloh Road and Northwest Highway. The car rolled and hit a telephone pole. The driver was ejected and died instantly, police said.
“The vehicle rolled over several times and there was a weapon that came out of the vehicle. We ran it and it came back stolen out of Dallas,” said Officer Alberto Irizarry with the Garland Police Department.
Police have not yet released the man’s name.
