Rockwall PD: Man tried to lure 13-year-old into car after school

A 13-year-old girl in Rockwall said a man tried to lure her into his car while she was waiting for her parents to pick her up from school.

Rockwall police say the girl’s parents called them after she was approached by a man on the northwest corner of Utley Middle School on Wednesday around 4:20 p.m.

The girl said the man was in an older silver compact 4-door car with tinted windows. She says he drove away after seeing a motorcycle police officer in the area.

The suspect is described as a white male with black hair and was last seen wearing an orange or red shirt.

The incident was also reported to the school district. They sent a notice home to parents saying, “As a precaution, all Rockwall ISD schools were notified of this incident and police will have a more visible presence around district schools for several days."

Parents say it's alarming the man tried to approach the girl outside of school because there are usually a lot of parents around.

“It's kind of devastating. I know you hear about a lot of them on the news. But it terms of it happening at your own school, it's quite surprising,” said Allen Lester. “We've always had the stranger danger talk, But in terms of talking directly about it, just to have him keep an eye out and not to talk to anybody if he doesn't know them.”

The Rockwall Police Department and Rockwall ISD are investigating the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police department at 972-771-7721.
