North Texas football player kicking for a cancer cure
A Mesquite Poteet High School student is using his talent on the football field to raise money for childhood cancer research.
In his short Life, Dylan Brown has already had to deal with cancer more than many people will in their lifetime.
He says 16 of his family members and friends have battled cancer.
Sadly, 9 of them have died.
"It's hard to know with what we've been through that there's millions of other people out there going through the exact same thing," said Brown.
Looking for a way to help, Brown turned to internet fundraising and a unique way of raising cash.
He's raising money with every field goal and extra point he kicks this season on the Poteet High School varsity football team.
Brown's head coach Cody Groves isn't surprised by his player's determination.
Groves says the entire varsity team supports what Brown is doing and they're trying to get him the ball as often as possible.
"Every point bring more money and more awareness," said Groves, " We want to win the right way and we win with kids who are willing to do things like this."
So far this season, Brown has raised more than $3000 of his $5000 goal.
