RIVER OAKS, Texas - Police are investigating the death of a 6-year-old girl in River Oaks, west of Fort Worth.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner identified the little girl as Isabella Courtney. Records indicate she died Wednesday evening at the hospital.
The River Oaks Police Department has not yet released any details about what happened but said a male juvenile suspect was taken into custody.
The suspect could face a homicide charge, police said.
"This can be one of the worst crimes a police officer responds to. It's very emotional not only for the police department, those who worked this case or who were there -- it's also for the community and its devastating for the family. We're hoping you take the family into account. Keep them in your prayers," said ROPD Chief Christopher Spieldenner.
There’s no word on if the girl and the suspect were related.
