Gas leak briefly shuts down part of DART Green Line on Wednesday

Dallas Area Rapid Transit’s Green Line returned to full service after a gas leak halted service in northwest Dallas for part of the day on Wednesday.

Dallas Fire-Rescue officials said workers ruptured a 4 to 6-inch gas line Wednesday morning while doing road construction on Denton Drive near Southwell Road.

The fire department asked DART to shut down the Green Line between Southwell Road and Walnut Hill Lane as a precaution.

DART spokesman Mark Bell said passengers were directed to shuttle buses that go between the Bachman and Farmers Branch stations while repairs were made

Atmos was called in to fix the gas line and service resumed after a few hours.
