Fallen Dallas police officer's twin brother shares emotional speech at his funeral

A funeral for Officer Jacob Arellano was held in Richardson on Wednesday.

Fallen Dallas police officer Jacob Arellano was remembered at a funeral in North Texas Wednesday.

Many of the people who knew Arellano best spoke at the service at Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Richardson.

Arellano, 25, was killed in a crash with a wrong-way driver on his way to work on Oct. 11.

Arellano's twin brother, Dallas police chief Eddie Garcia and Dallas mayor Eric Johnson were among the speakers at the funeral.

Officer Jacob Arellano was hit and killed in a wrong-way crash on October 11.

Another mass will be held on Friday, Oct. 21, at the Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in El Paso, where Arellano grew up, followed by the burial at Mount Carmel Cemetery.

On Monday, police officially booked Mayra Rebollar, 31, into the Dallas County jail on Monday via a remote hearing and charged her with intoxication manslaughter for the death of Officer Arrellano.

According to police documents, Rebollar's blood alcohol level was more than twice the legal limit.

Investigators say Rebollar was driving the wrong way on Spur 408 in a Nissan Altima when she hit Arellano head-on.

According to the arrest affidavit, Arellano then hit a semi-truck that was towing a trailer. That driver was not seriously injured.
